Pediatric Physical Therapy

The METRO SPORTSMED® Pediatric Physical Therapy Team works closely with the child's family and/or caregivers. They are educated and encouraged to participate in the exercise regimen both in the home, school, or during their extra- curricular activities.

DIAGNOSIS WE TREAT

Our therapists are sensitive to the needs of both children and their families and are specially trained to treat a variety of diagnosis including;
• Developmental conditions and birth-related injuries ( torticollis)
• Down Syndrome
• Cerebral Palsy
• Equipment solutions for patients with complex disabilities (e.g., positioning equipment, wheelchairs)
• General Conditioning & Fitness • Inherited and congenital limb conditions • Spinal deformities (e.g., scoliosis) • Sports-related injuries • Trauma • Performing arts and dance-related injuries • Low Muscle Tone • Obesity • Postural Retraining; Pediatric Bladder Control

HOW PHYSICAL THERAPY CAN HELP

Pediatric Physical Therapy assists in early detection of health problems and uses a wide variety of modalities to treat the disorders in the pediatric population.

Treatments focus on improving gross and fine motor skills, balance and coordination, strength and endurance, as well as cognitive and sensory processing integration.

The METRO SPORTSMED® Pediatric Physical Therapy Team works closely with the child's family and/or caregivers. They are educated and encouraged to participate in the exercise regimen both in the home, school, or during their extra- curricular activities.
